Ultimate Brewery Guide: Margaret River Region Craft Beer Trails

Two distinct routes. One memorable brewery journey through the South West.

The Margaret River Region Craft Brew Trails offer a self-guided way to explore some of the South West’s most respected craft breweries, set across coastline, farmland, and forest. Designed for people who genuinely love good beer or simply a dreamy day out, these trails showcase the depth and diversity of the Margaret River Region’s brewery scene – from easy-drinking coastal styles to bold, experimental brews made close to where they’re poured.

Whether you follow the coast or head inland, each stop is an opportunity to take your time, taste something local, and experience the region through its hoppy flavours!

Two Trails, Two Ways to Explore

The Craft Brew Trails are divided into the Bay Trail and the Cave Trail, each revealing a different side of the Margaret River Region and its craft beer culture. You can choose one trail for a relaxed day out or combine both for a longer journey through the South West, linking coastal views with rural landscapes.

Bay Trail – Coastal Breweries & Ocean Views

The Bay Drive Beer Trail begins at the Busselton foreshore and follows the curve of the coastline toward Yallingup, where open water, coastal scenery and relaxed brewery stops set the pace for the day. This is a trail shaped by sea air and sunlight, designed to be taken slowly with time to stop, taste, and take in the views along the way.

Starting beside the iconic Busselton Jetty, Shelter Brewing Co is an easy place to ease into the journey. Beers here feel made for the setting – crisp, refreshing, and best enjoyed with the ocean just in front of you. Leaving the foreshore behind, the trail continues within Busselton to Rocky Ridge Taphouse, where expressive, creative brews introduce a shift in pace and set up the diversity of the journey ahead.

As the road carries you into Dunsborough, Southcamp offers a natural pause. Its relaxed atmosphere and approachable beers make it a comfortable place to slow down before the drive opens out along the coast. Not far beyond, the landscape shifts to farmland near the sea and Eagle Bay Brewing Co comes into view. With handcrafted beers and a menu built around local produce, it’s a place where long lunches stretch easily into the afternoon.

Leaving Eagle Bay, the trail weaves back through bushland, bringing you to Wild Hop Brewing Co, where brewing is closely tied to the surrounding environment and flavours reflect a playful, experimental spirit. The journey then gently winds toward its final stop at 8 Waves Brewing at Aravina Estate, where balanced, easy-drinking beers provide a calm finish to the coastal run before you head on or circle back.

Cave Trail – Forest & Inland Breweries

The Cave Drive Beer Trail turns inland, following Caves Road through rolling farmland, vineyards and tall Karri forest toward Margaret River. It’s a slower journey, where the scenery closes in and the sense of place becomes more pronounced with every stop.

The trail begins near Cowaramup at Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co, where a lively atmosphere and wide range of beer styles set a welcoming tone. From here, the route continues south to Beerfarm, a brewery set on a former dairy farm, where beer, food, and open space encourage you to settle in and stay a while.

Continuing down the road, Cowaramup Brewing Co offers a familiar, relaxed stop, known for its easy-going beers and generous hospitality. The drive then carries you through vegetated hills to CBCo Brewing, where refined beers are enjoyed in a bushland setting that feels both polished and grounded.

At the end of the day, Margaret River Brewhouse sits beside the river, offering a serene natural spot to pause. It’s a fitting conclusion – a place to reflect on the journey, enjoy a final beer, and let the pace of the Margaret River Region linger a little longer.

Plan Your Brewery Trail Experience

The Margaret River Region Craft Brew Trails are best enjoyed without rushing. Take a day, a weekend or longer, organise a designated driver or join a guided tour, and give yourself time to appreciate each brewery for it’s unique charm.

From coastal sessions to forest hideaways, these trails showcase the South West’s craft beer culture at its best – grounded, welcoming, and shaped by place. For brewery enthusiasts, it’s not just about what’s in the glass, but who you are with and where you are when you raise it.

Discover the Margaret River Region, one brewery at a time.
