Carrying the Fire | Albany 2026

Albany will glow with light as Carrying the Fire marks the grand finale of Albany 2026.

Picture this: a sea of people, young and old, walking together, each carrying a lamp. Their steps trace the hills and coastal fringe, creating a glowing, ephemeral artwork. A river of light flowing through the landscape, illuminating the night and the spirit of the community.

Carrying the Fire is about connection. A moment to come together as individuals and as a community, reflecting on the power of unity and the shared stories that bind us to each other and the land.

This event is a tribute to Albany’s stunning landscapes and its people. It’s a chance to walk together, carry the fire, and leave behind a fleeting, yet unforgettable mark on the land.

Participation is free and everyone is welcome. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this is your opportunity to be part of one of the largest performative gatherings ever held in Western Australia. Save the date and join the journey.

Carrying the Fire is initiated, produced and presented by FORM Building a State of Creativity in collaboration with Creative Producer Southern Edge Arts and Artistic Director Annette Carmichael.
