Vintage Welcome to Country & Smoking Ceremony

A special Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, led by the Undalup Association, will mark the start of Vintage 2026 on Wadandi Boodja (Saltwater Country).

This traditional smoking ceremony is a powerful cultural practice that cleanses and purifies the spirit, body and soul, while symbolically welcoming a new beginning. The event provides a meaningful way to honour the season and celebrate an exciting time for the Margaret River wine industry, as seasonal workers arrive and preparations begin for the upcoming harvest.

International workers are encouraged to bring a flag or wear traditional clothing from their home country, highlighting the rich multicultural spirit of the vintage workforce in the Margaret River Wine Region.

Guests are invited to bring their own chair or picnic blanket and enjoy this free event, running from 5.00pm to 7.00pm, as part of this important cultural gathering.

The event is organised by the Margaret River Wine Association, with support from the Shire of Augusta Margaret River, TeamsWork (formerly SW Labour Solutions) and the Undalup Association.
