Subsea Estate
Located near Augusta in the famed Margaret River region, Subsea Estate brings together world-class winemaking, marine innovation and the wild beauty of the South West coast. As the Southern Hemisphere’s first open-ocean winery, it offers visitors a rare chance to experience premium wines shaped by the forces of the sea. Showcasing cutting-edge techniques, sustainable practices and an unforgettable sense of place, Subsea Estate is fast becoming a must-visit destination for travellers seeking unique food and wine experiences in Western Australia.

Subsea Estate is a pioneering winery located at the edge of the South West of Western Australia, near Augusta in the renowned Margaret River region. As the Southern Hemisphere’s first open-ocean winery, Subsea Estate harnesses the powerful energy of the Southern Ocean to craft limited-edition, premium wines that are uniquely shaped by the natural rhythms of the sea.

Set across a 413-hectare estate off the coast, Subsea Estate employs an innovative process: after primary fermentation, selected varietals such as Semillon and Shiraz are placed in specially designed vats 20 metres beneath the waves where constant temperature, ocean swell and hydrostatic pressure induce a secondary fermentation and ageing process unseen in conventional wineries.

Guests can visit the cellar door at Augusta Boat Harbour, where they can enjoy sweeping views of Flinders Bay and experience immersive tastings that reveal the story behind the sea-shaped wines. The estate also offers a combined abalone & wine tour in partnership with its on-site abalone facility – a truly South West coastal experience.

Subsea Estate is committed to innovation, sustainability and excellence, delivering wines that reflect both the terroir of Margaret River and the wild spirit of the ocean. Whether booking a tasting, exploring the cellar door or selecting a bottle of their small-batch wine, visitors unlock a one-of-a-kind Australian coastal wine experience.
