    Albany 2026 Day One

Perth – Williams – Kojonup – Mount Barker – Albany

    416km | 4.5hr

Leave Perth behind and head south via the Albany Highway, stopping for a gourmet coffee and to peruse the finest wool garments at the Williams Woolshed. Further down the road, park up and stretch your legs in Kojonup, a quaint town where rich history and deep culture converge. Wander the award-winning Kodja Place for a glimpse of intricate Noongar paintings and local art installations, before enjoying lunch at the Black Cockatoo Café where you can take in the glorious sights of the nearby rose maze.

Back in the car, continue heading towards Mount Barker, where mural trails await. Visit the local bakery to take a sweet treat with you as you walk, then continue on to Albany for an overnight at one of Samphire Collection‘s luxurious stays or the ideally-placed Hilton Garden Inn Albany.

    Albany 2026 Day Two

    Albany

Today is for exploring the artistry of Albany and taking in the breathtaking sights of King George Sound. Start the morning with a coffee and delicious fresh pastries from Kate’s Place or Dylans on the Terrace, both of which overlook the beautiful harbour. Meander down past the university to the water’s edge, where you will find the giant sea dragon mural – part of the Australian Silo Art Trail.

Then embark on a trip across time as you traverse the historic main street, headed toward the Vancouver Arts Centre. Enjoy an art workshop or simply browse the plentiful collections. After lunch, The National ANZAC Centre is a place to seek contemplation, as you admire the selflessness, courage, and sacrifice displayed by those who served our country. Immerse yourself in the stories of World War I soldiers, their journey backdropped by the harbour – one of the last looks these ANZACs had of home.

That night it is time to enjoy one of Albany 2026’s incredible bicentennial events. From Taste Great Southern, to international light shows, and drone displays. There’s a hive of activity and wonder to see.

Granite Skywalk is the perfect stop on your way home from experiencing Albany 2026.

    492km | 5.5hr

On your way home, call past the dazzling Granite Skywalk – a 2km hike that leads to breathtaking views across the Great Southern forests and farmland.  From there, cruise northwards through the breathtaking Stirling Range National Park towards the Horsepower Highway. This quirky collection covers the stretch of land between Mount Trio and Broomehill, with 27 colourfully painted tractors to spot.

Just up the road you’ll find yourself in Katanning, where the art trail will bring you past patterned power boxes and large-scale murals – more pieces from FORM’s PUBLIC Silo Trail. Katanning’s Public Art Gallery is one of the biggest in the region, and a must see, with a final walk through the Heritage Rose Gardens to admire the Pioneer Women’s clock, the perfect way to finish your trip before returning to Perth.
