Here, massive rounded granite boulders create a natural reef, sheltering the turquoise waters from the wild Southern Ocean. This makes Greens Pool an incredibly safe and inviting spot for swimming, especially for families with young children. The clear, calm waters are also perfect for snorkelling, revealing an abundant marine life including zebra fish, silver drummer, and even the occasional wobbegong!
Elephant Rocks: Nature’s Sculptural Masterpiece Just a short stroll from Greens Pool, you’ll discover the aptly named Elephant Rocks. William Bay National Park is beautiful year-round. However, the summer months (December to February) are ideal for swimming and enjoying the beaches to their fullest. During these peak periods, it’s advisable to arrive early as parking can be limited.
For a display of vibrant wildflowers, plan your visit for spring (September to November), when the park bursts with colour. The cooler months (March to September) are perfect for longer walks and exploring the trails without the summer heat.
Recent upgrades have significantly improved accessibility within the park. The first 200m of the William Bay Trail from the Elephant Rocks carpark is sealed and suitable for wheelchairs and adaptive cycles, leading to a stunning lookout. Accessible toilets are also available.
