Home to the internationally acclaimed Limeburners Single Malt Whisky, Great Southern Distilling Company’s Albany Cellar Door is located on the edge of Princess Royal Harbour, where pristine waterfront views and fresh coastal air help shape every barrel of whisky produced.
In 2017 and again in 2020, Limeburners was recognised by the American Distilling Institute as the World’s Best International Craft Whisky. A bottle of Limeburners is also displayed at the Western Australian Museum as an example of a Western Australian brand recognised among the world’s finest.
Each whisky is handcrafted in small batches using locally grown grains and pure water sourced from limestone aquifers beneath the distillery. The peated expressions feature peat hand-collected from a bog near the Valley of the Giants in Walpole, creating distinctive flavours found nowhere else.
Visitors can enjoy tastings of Limeburners Whisky alongside the distillery’s sister brands, Giniversity Gin, Tiger Snake Whiskey and Dugite Whiskey. Local wines, craft beers, coffee and tea are also available at the cellar door.
Discover the art of whisky making on the Limeburners Distillery Tour, an immersive 30-minute guided experience that takes guests behind the scenes of the working distillery. Learn about every stage of production, from malting and fermentation through to the final spirit run, while gaining insight into the traditional craftsmanship behind Australia’s award-winning single malt whisky. Tours run daily at 11.00 am, with the opportunity to see the distilling team at work Monday to Friday. The experience concludes with a guided tasting of three 15 ml pours of Limeburners Single Malt Whisky. Tours are $55 per person.
For those looking to linger longer, the cellar door also offers casual lunches, handcrafted cocktails and Giniversity gin blending classes, where visitors can create their own bespoke gin to take home.
